Results are in. Westminster Academy football standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week
Westminster Academy football standout Anthony Barbar is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Barbar, a senior quarterback, completed 19 of 28 passes for 288 yards and four touchdowns and one interception to lead the Lions to a 35-0 win over Pine Crest.
On the season, Barbar has completed 71.9 percent of his passes for 1,596 yards and 17 touchdowns while throwing just one interception. He has also added three rushing touchdowns.
Westminster Academy overall is 5-0 this season entering its bye week.
Piper football’s Kavaughn Stewart, Chaminade-Madonna football’s Cedrick Bailey and American Heritage girls’ cross country’s Ashley Fitzgerald rounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
