Results are in. Coral Springs Charter softball standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week
Coral Springs Charter softball standout Stephanie Basso is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Basso, a junior, went 3 for 4 with two home runs and four RBI to help the Panthers stay unbeaten and win the BCAA Big 8 championship. Basso was named the tournament’s MVP.
On the season, Basso is hitting .317 (20 for 63) with a team-high 28 RBI along with three home runs, seven doubles and five runs scored.
Coral Springs Charter is 23-0-2 on the season.
Cardinal Gibbons baseball’s Tugg Hollandsworth, Dillard girls’ track and field’s Jade Shakir and Taravella baseball’s Anthony Quigley rounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
