Results are in. West Broward baseball standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week
West Broward baseball standout Mason Elrod is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Elrod, a senior, went 3 for 4 with two home runs and five RBI to lead the Bobcats to a 10-9 walk-off win over Taravella on March 30. Elrod also went 2 for 2 with two doubles in a win against Cardinal Gibbons on March 28.
On the season, Elrod is hitting .326, leads West Broward with five home runs and is tied for the team lead with 18 RBI. The Bobcats are 12-5.
Archbishop McCarthy softball’s Chantalle Guillou, St. Thomas Aquinas water polo’s Riley Andres, Flanagan baseball’s Bruno Schafer and American Heritage boys’ track and field’s Christien Moreau rounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
