Results are in. Douglas baseball standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week
Stoneman Douglas baseball’s Christian Rodriguez is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Rodriguez, a senior, did it all this week for the Eagles. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, double and single and two RBI to lead Douglas to a win over fellow state contender Columbus on March 24. He also went 6 for 12 for the week in wins against Cardinal Gibbons on March 23 and St. Thomas Aquinas on March 21 and struck out 12 against the Raiders.
On the season, Rodriguez is hitting .302 (13 for 43) with four doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored. On the mound, he is a perfect 5-0 with a 1.06 ERA and 54 strikeouts against just five walks over 26 1/3 innings.
Stoneman Douglas is a perfect 15-0.
Pine Crest girls’ track and field’s Brooke Hooper, St. Thomas Aquinas boys’ volleyball’s Luke Swadener, NSU University School baseball’s Brandyn Potter and Coral Springs baseball’s Alexander Montero rounded out this week’s participants.
