Results are in. St. Thomas Aquinas basketball standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week

St. Thomas Aquinas girls’ basketball’s Nyla McFadden is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

McFadden, a sophomore, scored 15 points in the BCAA Big 8 final to lead the Raiders to a 45-38 victory and their second consecutive county championship.

The Raiders, who are 18-8 on the season, are looking to win their third consecutive state championship.

South Plantation boys’ basketball’s Kaiden Francis, Cardinal Gibbons wrestling’s Nicholas Yancey and Cypress Bay wrestling’s Gabe Herrero rounded out this week’s participants.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
