Results are in. American Heritage soccer standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week
American Heritage girls’ soccer’s Sami Villaverde is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Villaverde, a sophomore forward, scored a combined five goals in wins over Fort Lauderdale on Jan. 17 and Montverde Academy on Jan. 20. She leads the Patriots with 16 goals this season and is fourth on the team with seven assists.
American Heritage, a strong contender for a state title in Class 5A, is 11-2-2 on the season heading into districts.
Miramar wrestling’s Kylan Butler, Pembroke Pines Charter boys’ basketball’s Josh Harris, Somerset Prep girls’ basketball’s Jocelyn Gagnon and Highlands Christian boys’ basketball’s Jessiah Pierre-Johnson rounded out this week’s participants.
