Cardinal Gibbons wrestler Michael Mocco is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Mocco, a freshman, won by major decision in the 190-pound finals, which clinched third place for the Chiefs in the East Coast Catholic Cup.
Sagemont boys’ basketball’s Danielius Kasparas, South Plantation boys’ basketball’s Omarri Wallace and Pembroke Pines Charter girls’ soccer’s Lily O’Neil rounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
