Results are in. Western standout is fans’ choice for top Broward girls’ volleyball player
Davie Western’s Camryn Cala is the fans’ choice for top girls’ volleyball player in Broward for the 2022 season, as voted on by readers.
Cala, a senior outside hitter, was an integral player for a Western team that went 13-11 last season and reached the Class 7A regional quarterfinals.
More than 9,000 votes were cast in the poll, with Cala receiving 56 percent of the votes. South Plantation’s Elena Lam, Coral Springs Charter’s Alexandra Bruno, Archbishop McCarthy’s Celimar Hoyos and Cooper City’s Natalie Villalon rounded out the top-five vote getters.
All players who were on the Miami Herald’s All-County first team were listed on the ballot.
Bruno and St. Thomas Aquinas’ Zy’Aire were previously named the Miami Herald’s girls’ volleyball players of the year for this season in Broward.
