Results are in. Aquinas football standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week
St. Thomas Aquinas football’s Keyshawn Johnson is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Johnson had four sacks and five tackles for loss to lead the Raiders’ defense in a 38-21 win over Homestead that secured them their 14th state championship.
Johnson finished the season with 39 tackles, 17 sacks and a forced fumble.
Pine Crest girls’ weightlifting’s Gabriela Gomez, American Heritage boys’ soccer’s Juan Otero, Somerset Academy boys’ basketball’s Jamai Tejada and Stoneman Douglas girls’ soccer’s Grace Dykstra rounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
