Results are in. Miramar running back voted the fans’ Broward football offensive MVP
Miramar Patriots running back Nate Henry was voted by Miami Herald readers as the offensive MVP for the 2022 season among Broward County high school football players.
Henry, a senior, played a pivotal part in guiding Miramar to a 10-2 record and its first regional final appearance since 2013. The 5-9, 175-pound running back totaled 1,145 yards and 10 touchdowns on 135 carries, good for 8.5 yards per carry.
This included rushing for 197 yards and three touchdowns — including the go-ahead score with 1:20 left in regulation — in Miramar’s region 4-3M semifinal win against Southridge.
“Just growth,” Miramar coach Antwan Scott said of Henry. “He came early in the summer and busted his tail. He had a slow start at the beginning of the season. We always knew we were going to need him down the line. Just to see what he has done, I’m proud of him.”
Henry was one of 10 players on the poll, which received 3,360 votes.
The other nine: Western running back Matthew Wilson, Monarch quarterback AJ Hairston, Calvary Christian running back Reggie Heywood, Chaminade-Madonna quarterback Cedrick Bailey, Cardinal Gibbons running back Kamari Moulton, St Thomas Aquinas running back Jordan Lyle, American Heritage running back Mark Fletcher, Stoneman Douglas running back Clayton Cannon Jr. and North Broward Prep running back Deandre Desinor.
The Miami Herald will be publishing its choices for Broward County Players of the Year for football in late January.
