Results are in. Pines Charter football standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week
Pembroke Pines Charter football’s Jason Bourciquot is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Bourciquot, a senior, had six catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Jaguars to a 33-0 win over Pompano Beach and the school’s first playoff berth in 10 seasons.
Bourciquot finished the regular season with 914 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 42 catches in eight games played. He also returned a punt for a touchdown.
Pines Charter (6-3) plays Miramar in a Region 4-3M quarterfinal at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
About 7,000 votes were cast in this week’s poll, with Bourciquot receiving 67 percent of the votes. Cardinal Gibbons diver Juliet Radich, St. Thomas Aquinas volleyball’s Zy’Aire Barr, Chaminade-Madonna football’s Cedrick Bailey and Western football’s Collin Hurst rounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
