Results are in. Taravella bowler standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week

Taravella bowler Cesar Medina is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

Medina rolled a three-game series of 659 at districts, the highest individual score in Broward to lead Taravella to a runner-up team finish in District 15 and qualify for state.

And then at state, Medina was key to the Trojans advancing farther than any other area team. He rolled an 816 over four qualifying games, which ranked tied for 47th among 202 bowlers and just eight pins fewer than teammate Evan Kallen for the best score among Broward County bowlers.

Taravella as a team finished 14th in the qualifying round to advance to the 16-team double-elimination championship bracket. The Trojans won their first-round matchup against No. 3 seed Edgewood before losing to No. 6 seed Cambridge Christian to fall into the consolation bracket. Taravella stayed alive with two more wins before falling to Heritage High in the consolation bracket quarterfinals.
