Douglas gets first win over Deerfield Beach since 2001

Landyn Rivadeneira caught three touchdown passes, and Brett Israel threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a score as Douglas (3-0, 1-0) shocked Deerfield Beach 29-16 in a critical District 11-8A matchup. It was Douglas’ first win over Deerfield Beach (2-2, 1-1) since 2001.

Rivadeneira had 137 yards receiving and scored on three consecutive receptions in the second half after going into the half trailing 16-7. The Eagles outscored Deerfield Beach 23-0 in the second half. Israel hit Rivadeneira with a 57-yard touchdown pass on its first possession of the third.
