Travis Jackson powers Heritage past Chaminade

Travis Jackson rushed for 116 yards on 11 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead American Heritage past Chaminade-Madonna 35-8 at Heritage Field on Friday night.

Jackson scored on runs of 1 and 7 yards. Jackson also had a 54-yard ramble in the third quarter that led to another Patriots score.

Torrence Gibson hit Nick Eubanks with a 24-yard strike in the back of the end zone on the next play to ice the game for the Partiots. Gibson finished the night with 107 yards passing and 69 yards rushing in the Heritage victory.

“I have to give all the credit to my line for giving me nice holes to run through,” Jackson said after the game. “I just ran hard and followed my blocks and took advantage of what I saw from them on film.”

The Patriots defense, led by Anthony Flory who had a strip sack and a fumble recovery, held the Lions to minus-3 yards passing on the night.

Shaun Shivers rushed for 52 yards on 10 carries and had the Lions’ only score, a 6-yard run in the game’s final minute.
