Results are in. Belen’s Lorenzo Rodriguez voted Herald High School Athlete of the Week

Belen Jesuit golfer Lorenzo Rodriguez is the Miami Herald’s High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

Rodriguez, an individual state champion last season, was the individual champion with a 3-under 69 to lead Belen to the AMDG Cup at Mission Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills - site of the FHSAA state championships.

Miami Columbus bowler Orlando Hoyos, Coral Springs Charter volleyball player Samantha McMillan, Reagan/Doral volleyball player Samira Persad, Westminster Academy golfer Sara Davey and Oakland Park Northeast swimmer Sebastian Sanchez rounded out this week’s participants.

The Miami Herald Football and Athlete of the Week polls open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
