Results are in. True North basketball standout voted Dade High School Athlete of the Week

True North boys’ basketball standout J-Roc Lopez is the Dade High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

Lopez, a sophomore, totaled a combined 54 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists in wins over Stuart Martin County and Miami Christian.

On the season, Lopez is averaging 21.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.2 steals per game for True North, which is 19-5.

North Miami girls’ basketball’s Jadore Hayes, TERRA boys’ basketball’s Jordan Del Rio and South Dade boys’ wrestling’s Gavin Balmeceda rounded out this week’s participants.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
