Results are in. AIE Charter weightlifting standout voted Dade High School Athlete of the Week
AIE Charter girls weightlifting’s Emma Van Arman is the Dade High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Van Arman placed third in Olympic Lifting in the 139-pound division of Class 1A during the FHSAA State Weightlifting Championships. She was South Florida’s top finisher in Class 1A of all weight divisions.
Gulliver Prep boys’ soccer’s Cosme Salas, Lourdes girls’ soccer’s Coco Aguilar, True North boys’ basketball’s J-Roc Lopez, Miami Country Day girls’ basketball’s Jalynn Belton and Dade Christian boys’ basketball’s Isaiah Williams rounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
