Results are in. Voters tab Miami Central as most likely team to repeat as state champ
Four area high school football teams begin their quest this week to repeat as state champions.
Last week, we asked you who you believe has the best chance of doing so in light of the Florida High School Athletic Association’s realignment this coming season?
The results are in.
And based on your votes, it’s Miami Central that you think has the best chance to end the season on top in December at DRV PNK Stadium.
Central received 45 percent of the vote in our poll, which closed Wednesday night. St. Thomas Aquinas came in second with 33 percent of the vote, followed by Chaminade-Madonna (20 percent) and Cardinal Gibbons (2 percent).
The Rockets return a loaded squad led by four-star prospect Rueben Bain and are seeking to win four consecutive state titles for the second time in school history.
Now, there’s obviously the chance that multiple schools from this list defend their state titles. Only Central and Cardinal Gibbons are in the same classification, set to fight it out in the loaded 2M classification. St. Thomas Aquinas is in 3M, while Chaminade-Madonna is playing in the 1M class.
