The results are in. LaSalle tennis standout voted Miami Herald player of the week
LaSalle girls tennis’ Isabella Rojas is the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Rojas, a junior, dominated her No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1 and then won a tough No. 1 doubles match with teammate Mariana Naranjo 5-7, 6-3 (10-5) to secure district championships in both divisions and qualify as an individual competitor at state in both singles and doubles.
LaSalle fell in the Class 2A regional finals 5-0 to Gulliver Prep.
More than 62,000 votes were cast in this week’s poll, with Rojas receiving 62 percent of the vote. Belen Jesuit boys’ water polo’s Carlos Veccio, Cooper city softball’s Kristen Caravaca, Doral Academy baseball’s Michael Torres and Stoneman Douglas baseball’s Chris Arroyo were the other contenders for this week.
The Miami Herald will conduct this poll weekly, with polls opening Monday morning and closing at 10 p.m. Thursday.
