Demon King Balor reigns, wins Universal belt at WWE SummerSlam

Finn Balor beat Seth Rollins to become the inaugural WWE Universal champion during WWE SummerSlam on Sunday, Aug. 21 from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

In an aggressive match, Balor in Demon King painting sent the crowd into a frenzy with the victory. Your referee Chad Patton. Your ring announcer JoJo.

Stephanie McMahon and Mike Foley of Raw were ringside with the new red belt. Balor’s parents were in attendance.

WWE World champ Dean Ambrose beat The Show-Off Dolph Ziggler to retain his belt. Your referee Dan Engler. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan of SmackDown Live sat ringside.

Nikki Bella returned as a surprise replacement for suspended Eva Marie to team with Natalya and Alexa Bliss against Carmella, Becky Lynch and Naomi. Nikki pinned Carmella. Your referee Ryan Tran.

Entertainer Maria Menounos -- wearing a ‘Make Darren Young Great Again’ T-shirt which includes her friend, Mr. Backlund -- interviewed U.S.champ Rusev with his wife Lana backstage.

In a stellar see-saw battle, AJ Styles pinned John Cena again. Your referee Charles Robinson.

The crowd gave Cena a nice ovation after the match. Cena left his ‘Never Give Up’ armband in the middle of the ring.

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows won by DQ over WWE tag champs New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) with Francesca II and Jon Stewart. New Day retained the belts.

Big E returned to save Stewart who was being attacked by Anderson and Gallows, resulting in the DQ. Your referee Darrick Moore. New Day and Stewart danced after the match.

Charlotte pinned Sasha Banks to regain the WWE women’s title. She outsmarted Banks to pin the stunned wrestler. Your referee Shawn Bennett.

The Miz with Maryse retained the Intercontinental belt by pinning Apollo Crews. Your referee Jason Ayers.

Miz and Maryse celebrated with a kiss.

Opener: JeriKO (Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens) defeated Enzo Amore and Big Cass. Your referee John Cone.

Great reaction for the hometown boys Enzo Amore (New Jersey) and Big Cass (New York).

We learned Enzo and Big Cass like quoting Frank Sinatra and Biggie Smalls, and Big Cass can sing.

Entertainer and WWE fan Jon Stewart with his son for a backstage segment with Raw’s Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley and SmackDown Live’s Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan and WWE tag champs New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) with Francesca II.

Pre-show: The Celtic Warrior Sheamus defeated The Professional Cesaro in match one of their best-of-seven series.
