PRO WRESTLING: Wrestlers, Zombies at Magic City Comic Com in Miami

WWE Hall of Famers Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Ron Simmons, Jimmy Superfly Snuka and Greg The Hammer Valentine participated in Magic City Comic Con Jan. 16-18 at the Miami Airport Convention Center.

Bill Goldberg appeared on Jan. 17. He conducted an open and honest Q&A before a packed crowd and spent time meeting fans at his booth.

Simmons, a former college football standout, is a Florida State University Hall of Famer. Goldberg starred on the football field at the University of Georgia.

ECW originals The Franchise Shane Douglas and Raven and TNA Impact Wrestling agent and former ECW original Al Snow were there, too, along with former WWE superstar Evan Bourne (Matt Sydal) and indie talent and podcast host Colt Cabana, the first to interview (his friend) CM Punk following Punk’s departure from WWE.

Cabana hosted a couple of his (The art of WRESTLING) podcasts during comic con, including one with Goldberg.

Actor, agent, manager Jim Decker participated in Magic City Comic Con. Decker not only books some of the top talent in Hollywood and pro wrestling, but he also acts, appearing in films and TV shows including “My Name Is Earl,” “Contamination,” “Little Creeps.”

Magic City Comic Con provided hundreds of events and top celebrity guests from comic books, movies, TV series, cartoons, video games, sci-fi, fantasy, literature, and web based geekdom.

The event offered three days of fun with celebrity guests, comic book creators, voice actors, industry guests, cosplayers, artists, writers, panels, Q&As, films & shorts, costume & cosplay contests, vendors, parties, anime, workshops, and video gaming.

Also, a Ronin Pro Wrestling show, Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies film screenings and more.

Pro Wrestlers Vs. Zombies

Cody Knotts, a director, producer and writer, participated in the Magic City Comic Con by presenting and screening his film “Pro Wrestlers Vs. Zombies” along with movie co-stars The Franchise Shane Douglas and Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

They also held a panel discussion on the movie, met fans, took photos and signed autographs.

“Pro Wrestlers Vs. Zombies” is exactly as it sounds — sports entertainment icons and local ring talent using their signature fighting styles, athleticism and anything they can grab to fend off the undead.

Filmed in Parkersburg, W. Va., the movie features WWE Hall of Famers Rowdy Roddy Piper and Hacksaw Jim Duggan, former ECW champ The Franchise Shane Douglas, TNA Impact Wrestling wrestler and former WWE superstar Matt Hardy and his wrestling wife, Reby Sky, and Olympic gold medalist turned WWE and TNA World champion Kurt Angle.

Other wrestlers in the cast are Ryan The Steel City Prodigy Mitchell, Shane Taylor, Ryan Edmonds and Facade. Taya Parker, Penthouse Pet of the Year in 2009, and Shannon Hart are also in the cast. The main villain is played by Renegade Wrestling Alliance legend and former McKeesport-based Pro Wrestling eXpress superstar Ashton Amherst.
