WWE announced during Monday Night Raw on Jan. 12 on the USA Network that the late, great Macho Man Randy Savage will be inducted into its hall of fame during WrestleMania 31 Week in the Bay area in California.

Savage is the first member announced for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2015. The ceremony will occur on Saturday, March 28 (the night before WrestleMania 31) at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.

Who can forget the intensity the Macho Man brought to rings around the world.

And when you’re over as a good guy or a bad guy, you’ve made it.

Well, Savage was over as both.

A top star for many years, Macho Man won world titles in the WWF and WCW. Being accompanied to those rings by his manager and wife, the lovely Miss Elizabeth, Savage had it all.

And his promos with WWF interviewer Mean Gene Okerlund were wrestling gold.

The Cream of the Crop

South Florida fans can remember Savage with Elizabeth defending the WWF title against Bad News Allen at the now defunct West Palm Beach Auditorium.

How about the night at the old Miami Arena during the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, when the Macho King Randy Savage with Queen Sherri drilled the Ultimate Warrior with the royal scepter to cost the Warrior the WWF title. With the Macho King’s assistance, the turncoat anti-American Sgt. Slaughter, accompanied by Iraqi General Adnan, won the belt which really upset the crowd.

The Macho Man also did well as a color commentator for the WWF.

Between his intensity, passion, aerial tactics, attitude, fists, flying elbow, gruff voice, wife, glasses, hats, do-rags, tassels, promos and elaborate robes, Macho Man Randy Savage became some mainstream figure.

What about his entrance music? Classic. Sir Edward Elgar would have been proud.

So many love imitating the Macho Man’s ‘Oh Yeah!’

Snap into a Slim Jim. Savage became so popular that Slim Jim hired him to be its commercial spokesman.

A former minor league baseball player, Savage also landed a part in the major 2002 “Spider-Man” movie as the full-bearded Bone Saw McGraw.

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan will induct Savage posthumous into the WWE Hall of Fame. Former WWE superstar Leaping Lanny Poffo, Savage's younger brother, will accept the honor.
