World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Chris Jericho has been away from the ring, but that’s because he’s been on tour performing, promoting his rock metal band’s new album.
Rock metal band Fozzy visits Fort Lauderdale’s Culture Room, 3045 N. Federal Hwy., at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10. Texas Hippie Coalition and Shaman Harvest are also on the bill.
Fozzy’s new album “Do You Wanna Start a War” features the top hit “Lights Go Out.”
“Our last album came out two years ago; it went very well for us,” Jericho said in a phone interview with Rodolfo Roman of The Roman Show. “We had momentum; so the best thing for us was to make another record. We wanted to make another record that wasn’t trendy.”
“Do You Wanna Start a War” was released in July, giving Fozzy six albums, since forming in 1999.
“Do You Wanna Start a War” debuted in the Top 50 on Billboard. “Lights Go Out” is in the Top 20 on Billboard.
Jericho, the lead vocalist of Fozzy, said fans of music and wrestling can expect to jam at the Fozzy show.
“It is made to have fun,” he said. “It was made for people to jump up and down.”
The Canadian rocker and wrestler said he is living two dreams he wanted to accomplish since he was a kid.
“When I was a kid, I wanted to be a wrestler and a rock star,” he said. “Some told me I couldn't do it, but I went ahead and did it anyway.”
Listen to the band’s lyrics, and you might find something inspirational.
“We believe in the positive things instead of the negatives,” he said.
