ONE Champ Adriano Moraes of ATT builds on legacy with second fight against Demetrious Johnson

ONE Championship flyweight champion Adriano Moraes of American Top Team is gearing for another title defense which will continue to cement his legacy.

Here is my video interview with the champ at American Top Team in (South Florida) Coconut Creek.

Moraes, 33, is attempting to go 2-0 against Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson on Friday at ONE on Amazon Prime Video 1 from Singapore. This will be ONE’s Prime Video debut..

Originally from Brasilia, Federal District, Brazil, Moraes is 20-3, including a big victory over Johnson (30-4-1) in April 2021 in a main event title bout for ONE on TNT also from Singapore. Moraes became the first fighter to finish Johnson, 36, a former UFC flyweight champion.

Their first encounter and much-heralded rematch are high-profile contests, bringing more American eyes to ONE Championship, a Singaporean combat sports promotion.

Founded in July 2011 by entrepreneur Chatri Sityodtong and former ESPN Star Sports senior executive Victor Cui, ONE’s events have featured mixed martial arts (MMA), submission grappling, kickboxing and Muay Thai bouts.

Heavyweight Marcus Almeida, also from Brazil and American Top Team, is on the historic Friday card, too.

ONE on Prime Video:

• ONE on Prime Video 1 will air live Friday, Aug. 26 with the lead card beginning at 8 p.m. ET followed by the main card at 10 p.m. ET.

• The main event will feature Adriano Moraes defending his Flyweight World Championship against Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson in a highly anticipated rematch.

• The card will also feature Liam Harrison vs. Nong-O Gaiyanghadao for the Bantamweight Muy Thai World Championship; Rodtang vs Savvas Michael in a Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix Semifinal; Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida vs Kirill Grishenko in a heavyweight clash and more.

• The remaining dates for the 2022 ONE on Prime video schedule include:

• The multi-year partnership calls for a minimum of 12 events to be broadcast annually on Prime Video.
