The Event
The 2021 Sports Illustrated Awards presented by Pepsi Stronger Together (SI Awards) held an incredible award ceremony and night of entertainment on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021 from Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in South Florida near Hollywood.
The event was attended by a A-list athletes and talent including Rob Gronkowski, Billie Jean KiIng, DJ Khaled, Udonis Haslem, Logan Paul, Dan Marino, Chad Johnson, Colby Covington, WWE Superstars Sasha Banks, Bianca Belair and the Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) and WWE 24-7 Champ Dana Brooke with Miami’s Uly “Monster” Diaz of BKFC and more who came together to celebrate the moments that defined sports in 2021, with awards ranging from Athlete of the Year to Hometown Hero.
South Florida favorite Udonis Haslem -- a three-time NBA champion with the Miami Heat and a University of Florida and Miami High alum -- was named the SI Hometown Hero, presented by Pepsi Stronger Together.
Miami Heat teammate Tyler Herro was named SI Best Dressed Presented by JCPenny.
Sven-time Olympic gold medal winning swimmer Caeleb Dressel was named SI Male Athlete of the Year presented by U.S. Polo Assn. Dressel is a University of Florida alum who swam for the Gators, Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, Florida and the prestigious Bolles School Sharks in Jacksonville.
The night’s top honors, Sportsperson of the Year and The Muhammad Ali Legacy Award, were awarded to Tom Brady and tennis legend Billie Jean King, respectively. Friend and teammate Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski presented the award to Brady, a former New England Patriot and current Tampa Bay Buccaneer.
Sports Illustrated’s issue spotlighting Brady as 2021 Sportsperson of the Year is on newsstands on December 16 with early access today at SI.com.
