Dana White talks Amanda Nunes, ATT, UFC, Florida Gov. DeSantis, Tony Khan and Fight Island
UFC President Dana White and his exceptional team are gearing for UFC 250 on Saturday via ESPN+ PPV from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
That contingent brought you three shows in eight days, all emanating from Jacksonville, Florida, a few weeks prior as UFC made a successful return from the COVID-19 shutdown,
With UFC 250, it marks the company’s second card in Las Vegas, since the city recently re-opened its doors to UFC.
UFC 250 is headlined by two-division champion Amanda Nunes of (South Florida) American Top Team against Felicia Spencer of (Central Florida) Jungle MMA.
White is also preparing to make an announcement about Fight Island, a place where UFC will host international fights.
With travel restrictions preventing fighters from other countries entering the United States, White devised a plan to hold UFC events at an undisclosed location (Fight Island) to maneuver around those travel issues.
As for the United States, thanks to Gov. Ron DeSantis and Mayor Lenny Curry and their teams, UFC initially returned with those Jacksonville, Florida shows in May. Florida allowed pro wrestling, horse racing and MMA, before other states nation-wide.
Here is my audio interview on Friday with UFC President Dana White as he discusses Amanda Nunes, American Top Team, UFC, Florida Gov. DeSantis, South Florida, Shahid and Tony Khan, Fight Island and more.
Currently UFC is running shows in Las Vegas, familiar stomping grounds. More UFC cards in Florida, especially Jacksonville, are likely.
For health and safety reasons, UFC shows are closed to the public. Also stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, precautions with daily testing, rules, small contingents and guidelines are the norm leading up to, into and after UFC events, like UFC 250 on Saturday.
