Allentown’s Ian Riccaboni, the voice of Ring of Honor, wants Billy Joel song update

Colt Cabana, Cody, Don Callis, Excalibur, Kevin Kelly, Nick Aldis, Quinn McKay, and Caprice Coleman share a distinction. They have or are working with talented Ring of Honor lead broadcaster Ian Riccaboni.

Cabana and Kelly helped Riccaboni grow as a pro wrestling broadcaster with Ring of Honor, and in turn Riccaboni is helping do the same for others on the current ROH broadcast team.

Thanks initially to the Blue Meanie, Philadelphia Phillies and the Monster Factory, Riccaboni found himself in the pro wrestling business. Then, Bob Evans and Kevin Kelly are credited with landing Riccaboni in Ring of Honor.

For more than three years, Riccaboni has been the voice of Ring of Honor, providing play-by-play for more than 150 episodes of the internationally-syndicated ROH Wrestling.

With ROH, Riccaboni has traveled throughout the world and lists calling All In and G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden as career highlights.

A native of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Riccaboni is living his lifelong dream of calling professional wrestling on television. He is a graduate of NYU, playing college baseball there while earning a degree on academic scholarship. He later attained a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Allentown has changed since the Billy Joel song released in 1982.

Riccaboni’s foray into the pro wrestling business began by meeting Blue Meanie and venturing to the famous Monster Factory in in Paulsboro, N.J., where he paid his dues.

Here is my two-part audio interview with ROH’s Ian Riccaboni.

Riccaboni, 33, has been married to Sarah for seven years, and the two have a son Zach and a daughter Nora.

One of the top pro wrestling broadcasters going today, he is also one of the most famous Salisbury High School grads along with friends and wrestling fans Kris Fried (comedian, SNL intern, Fox News contributor, WWE alum) and Julia Urich (11-time Emmy-winning TV and video producer with FireRock Productions).

Riccaboni will help lead ROH into battle on Feb. 28 (Bound by Honor) in Nashville; on Feb. 29 (Gateway to Honor) in St. Charles, Missouri; on March 13 (ROH 18th Anniversary) and March 14 (Past vs. Present) in Las Vegas; on April 4 (SuperCard of Honor) in Lakeland, Florida; on April 10 (Pure Excellence) in Columbus, Ohio; on April 11 (Pure Excellence) in Pittsburgh; on April 23 (BattleStarr 2020) in New York; and on April 24 (Quest for Gold) in Philadelphia.
