Brandi Rhodes returning to The U in Miami with South Florida debut of AEW Dynamite on TNT

AEW will make its South Florida debut on Jan. 15 with AEW Dynamite (Bash at the Beach) on TNT from the Watsco Center at the University of Miami.

That’s familiar terrain for AEW chief brand officer and wrestler Brandi Rhodes.

With a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree from the University of Miami, Rhodes is also a businesswomen, a TV personality and a role model for women and women of color.

A week after the AEW Miami show, Rhodes will give her first ever keynote to open the Brands x Content portion of National Association of Television Programming Executives (NAPTE) Miami 2020 on Jan. 22.

During that week is also Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea, sailing round-trip from Miami to Nassau, Bahamas, from Jan. 20 to 24.

In my audio interview with Brandi, she discusses AEW, her South Florida ties, University of Miami, University of Michigan, the Steiner Brothers, figure skating and more.

Growing up in Canton, Michigan, Rhodes was a talented figure skater, competing up until her sophomore year of college. With Olympic aspirations, she opted to pursue broadcast journalism, acting, modeling and college life.

Rhodes coached figure skating while living in Miami.

She became a ring announcer and backstage interviewer for WWE, including working WrestleMania 31. She wrestled for Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor before being involved in the formation of AEW with husband and WWE alum Cody Rhodes.
