Johnny Impact is an actor, reality TV contestant, pro wrestler and film maker, making the most of opportunities following a solid career in WWE.
Adding to an already impressive list of opportunities, Impact will main event (fittingly) Impact Wrestling’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view, challenging Austin Aries for the world title on Sunday, Oct. 14 from the Melrose Ballroom in New York City.
And to provide some drama, Aries made it personal.
Impact is ready for the mental and physical confrontation, one that may set a mark.
By the end of the show, a husband and wife tandem could be carrying a lot of gold as the top champions for Impact Wrestling.
Lucha Royalty Taya Valkyrie, who is married to Johnny Impact, will face Knockouts Champ Tessa Blanchard for that belt.
With the newlyweds competing for major titles on the same night on the same show, that is history making in itself. If both capture the gold, they will further cement their place in the annals of pro wrestling.
To accomplish that feat on Sunday, they’ve been practicing extra hard in their backyard ring at their California home.
Born and raised in Southern California, the very agile Impact is vying for another worthwhile prize. He is a contestant on Season 37 of Survivor, which kicked off Sept. 26 on CBS.
The weekly TV show, produced by Mark Burnett (Lucha Underground, Shark Tank, The Voice), places a group of strangers in an isolated location, where they must provide food, fire, and shelter for themselves. The contestants compete in challenges for rewards and immunity from elimination.
The contestants are progressively eliminated from the game as they are voted out by their fellow contestants, until only one remains and is given the title of “Sole Survivor” and is awarded the grand prize of 1-million dollars. The runner-up gets $100,000.
Impact, 39, began wrestling professionally in 2002, winning WWE Tough Enough III. He worked with WWE through 2011, winning the Intercontinental title three times, WWE’s ECW title once, tag team titles with Joey Mercury and Melina (MNM) four times and his friend The Miz once.
He’s been a shining star in the United States and Mexico, where he has competed for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. Stints with Lucha Underground, MLW and WCW are more highlights.
He is a crossover star, too, appearing on various TV shows, including Days of Our Lives and has numerous film credits, including Boone: The Bounty Hunter, which he created, co-wrote and served as executive producer. Most recently, he and Taya filmed a horror movie from their home.
Impact attended the University of California, Davis, studying film and geology. An avid rock collector as a youth, he is very knowledgeable on the subject and is looking to rock Aries at Bound for Glory.
