Rachel Evers, 24, of Orlando is one of the chosen few, competing in the WWE Mae Young Classic, a 32-women wrestling tournament that will broadcast on the WWE Network starting Monday, Aug. 28.

The action starts at 9 a.m. ET.

Evers, also known as Rachael Ellering, trained at the Storm Wrestling Academy under the direction of former ECW, WCW, WWE standout Lance Storm in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

A former powerlifter, Evers has come a long way in her wrestling development in a short period of time. Making it on her own, she does have it in her blood. Her father is the legendary Paul Ellering, former leader of the innovative and great tag team The Road Warriors and current mastermind behind former NXT tag champs the Authors of Pain.

After making residence in Central Florida, Evers wrestled extensively on the Florida indies. She has appeared for Shine and on TNA Impact Wrestling and NXT TV.

WWE Hall of Famers Jim Ross and Lita call the action of the Mae Young Classic. WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze is the backstage interviewer, and your ring announcer is Dasha Fuentes.

Most of the tournament was pre-recorded in July at Full Sail Live at Full Sail University in Winter Park, near Orlando.

The finals will be Sept. 12 at the Thomas & Mack Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

About Mae Young

Johnnie Mae Young, a WWE Hall of Famer, began her professional career in 1939. Already an incredible athlete — she was on her Tulsa, Oklhoma-based high school wrestling team and was a national champion softball player — Young embarked on her chosen livelihood at age 15.

Throughout the 1940s, she blazed a path for future female grapplers everywhere. Aith World War II in its midst, many territories that didn't feature women’s wrestling began to open up those doors, which were kicked down by Young and her contemporaries.

She remained one of the most active and successful female Superstars throughout the next few decades.Young was the first U.S. Women’s Champion, and her lengthy rivalry with the legendary Mildred Burke was one of the most storied of the time. In fact, in 1954, she and Burke were among the first female competitors to tour post-war Japan.
