It’s been some journey for WWE Superstar Baron Corbin.
A former boxer and college and pro football player, the 6-8, 275-pound wrestler is now Mr. Money in the Bank, winning the crowd-pleasing ladder match on Sunday, June 18 during the SmackDown style Money in the Bank pay-per-view live on WWE Network from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
An Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner, Corbin climbed the ladder to success, literally and figuratively, with the big win in Sunday’s action-packed match. That battle included U.S. Champ Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler.
Proudly hoisting the Money in the Bank briefcase high atop the ladder, now Corbin seeks WWE gold.

WWE Champ Jinder Mahal wears that gold target on his back and front, and The Lone Wolf can cash-in for his chance to take it, be king of the mountain, WWE champ, at any time.
A native of Kansas, Corbin, 32, has come a long way from his days in WWE’s NXT, training at the WWE Performance Center. He debuted in 2012.
I recall interviewing him in 2013 at the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair as NXT conducted a show there.
As Corbin evolved in NXT, I had another opportunity to interview him. This time in 2014 at an NXT show at the Havert L. Fenn Center in Fort Pierce.
When will we meet again? Maybe when he becomes WWE champ.
But will he win the title?
If past performance is any indication of future gain -- as Mr. Money in the Bank -- that’s a very real possibility.
