Interview with The Diamond Dustin Poirier at American Top Team in (South Florida) Coconut Creek.

Poirier, the No.9 lightweight, is preparing for his MMA battle against former division champion and current No.3 Eddie Alvarez at UFC 211 on Saturday, May 13 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Poirier is 5-1 since moving up to the lightweight division and has won eight of his last 10 bouts, with one of those losses coming to current division champion Conor McGregor when they fought at featherweight. Interestingly, Alvarez (28-5) lost his title to McGregor during his last bout and is attempting to make a comeback of his own.

Poirier can make a significant climb in the rankings if he defeats Alvarez.

Poirier will fight Alvarez in the main event of the undercard which will air on FX.

The main card will be on pay-per-view.

A native of Lafayette, La., Poirier trains at American Top Team in Coconut Creek.
