The Warlord on The Roman Show at Marlins Legends of Wrestling
The Warlord, a WWE alum and one half of the legendary tag team the Powers of Pain, said at one point TNA Impact Wrestling was eying the late Kimbo Slice.
Warlord, real name Terry Szopinski, spoke to Rodolfo Roman of The Roman Show at the annual Legends of Wrestling at Marlins Park Saturday, Aug. 27 where he shared his story of being a bodyguard for Slice, who died earlier this year.
Warlord said TNA Impact Wrestling was interested in Slice.
“TNA had asked me if Kimbo would come and talk to them and train him in pro wrestling,” he said. “I think Kimbo would have done fine. He had a character already. As far as wrestling, that would fall into place.”
Warlord noted Slice, a street fighter and mixed martial artist, was a great family man.
“Kimbo was an incredible guy,” he said. “He was a great family man, very quiet. But let me tell you. I heard him punching those bags and heard the pop. To me that impressed me. He was one of the hardest punchers.
Warlord also discussed working as a bodyguard for rapper 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson.
“50 was a super guy,” he said. “He didn’t drink or smoke. He would take care of himself. Curtis was a very good man.”
The South Florida resident also said if the Powers of Pain returned to WWE, they would have their eyes on one team.
“I heard The Ascension [Konnor and Viktor] has been talking a lot of smack about us,” he said. "So to go out against The Ascension, if that ever happened, that would be a lot of fun or the Dudley Boyz. I love the Dudley Boyz.”
Warlord doesn’t believe the Dudley Boyz are retired.
He also talked about giving food tips to Chris Jericho and motivating him to pursue becoming a pro wrestler while working in Japan.
