Gators QB Jalen Kitna arrested on child pornography complaints, suspended from team
Florida Gators backup quarterback Jalen Kitna, the son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, was arrested Wednesday on multiple felony complaints involving child pornography.
Kitna, 19, was booked into the Alachua County Jail at 3:20 p.m. and has been suspended indefinitely from the football team.
According to Alachua County clerk of court records, Kitna is facing five counts of possession with intent to promote child pornography — a second-degree felony. No booking or arrest documents have been posted yet.
The Tampa Bay Times reported the Gainesville Police Department received a tip that a user of the Discord messaging system shared an image of “child sexual abuse material.” The investigation led police to Kitna, where a search found three more images on his electronic devices, according to the paper.
In a statement, the school said it is “shocked and saddened to hear the news involving Jalen Kitna” in announcing his suspension.
“These are extremely serious charges and the University of Florida and the UAA have zero tolerance for such behavior,” the statement said.
Kitna, a redshirt freshman, played in four games for UF this year, completing 10 of 14 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown.
