The Hurricanes and Cyclones tip off Friday at about 9:45 p.m., following the conclusion of the game between Providence and Kansas.

How did both teams get here?
The Hurricanes (25-10) made the NCAA Tournament as the No. 10 seed in the Midwest Region after a solid run in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Miami went 14-5 in league action during the regular season and reached the semifinal of the ACC Tournament where it lost to Duke.
Once the NCAA Tournament began, Miami pulled off consecutive upsets, beating No. 7 seed USC 68-66 and No. 2 seed Auburn 79-61.
Iowa State (22-12) is the No. 11 seed in the Midwest Region one year after going 2-22. The Cyclones made it to the second weekend of the tournament by pulling off upsets against No. 6 seed LSU (59-54) and No. 3 seed Wisconsin (54-49).
Who are the players to watch on each team?
The Hurricanes have four players averaging in double-figure scoring: Kameron McGusty (17.5), Isaiah Wong (15.5), Charlie Moore (12.8) and Jordan Miller (10.1).
Izaiah Brockington is Iowa State’s top player, averaging team best marks in points per game (17.1) and rebounds per game (6.8) while shooting 45.1 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from three-point range. Tyrese Hunter is Iowa State’s only other player averaging in double figures with 10.9 points per game.
What happens if the Hurricanes win?
A Miami win on Friday would send the Hurricanes to their first-ever Elite Eight and have them three wins away from a national championship. The winner of the Miami-Iowa State game plays the winner of the Kansas-Providence game on Sunday.
