Five-star cornerback Donte Wright commits to Miami, flipping pledge from Georgia
The Miami Hurricanes have landed their highest-ranked commitment yet of the 2027 recruiting cycle, getting a top-10 recruit to flip his pledge on Saturday and choose UM.
The recruit: Five-star cornerback Donte Wright, ranked as the No. 9 overall player in this cycle by the 247Sports composite ranking. Wright flipped his pledge from Georgia to Miami. Wright had been committed to Georgia since June 30, 2025.
“After a lot of Prayer,Thought & talks with my Family. I would like to announce I will be committing to the University of Miami,” Wright wrote on his personal X account announcing the move.
This pledge comes one day after getting a commitment from four-star Ezekiel Ayangbile, who is rated as the No. 23 defensive lineman in the Class of 2027 by the 247Sports composite ranking. He chose Miami over LSU and Virginia Tech, among others.
“It all came down to connection,” Ayangbile told Rivals on Friday, “and I think I truly had a bond with the coaches that was more like a brotherhood than just a transactional relationship. And that was the case with both the other schools in my choices … but I truly think that Miami is the place for me.”
Ayangbile is the second defensive lineman in Miami’s 2027 class, joining three-star Key West native Josh Johnson.
Miami’s 2027 recruiting class now has 11 commitments, eight of whom are blue-chip prospects.
