The Miami Hurricanes have landed a commitment from one of the top running back recruits in the Class of 2027.

Ty Keys, a four-star prospect, announced his pledge to the Hurricanes on Friday night. Keys is ranked as the No. 14 running back in the class and the No. 213 overall prospect regardless of position according to the 247Sports composite ranking.

He chose Miami over Florida State and Ole Miss.

Keys, a Poplarville, Mississippi, native, is coming off a record-setting junior season. He ran for 3,285 yards and 45 touchdowns on 301 carries — an average of 10.9 yards per rush — for Poplarville High. This included setting a Mississippi single-game rushing record with 546 yards and eight touchdowns in Poplarville’s 60-54 victory against Hancock on Sept. 12.

Through three seasons of high school football, Keys has amassed 5,072 rushing yards and 76 rushing touchdowns.

The Hurricanes have landed a four-star or better running back prospect (per the 247Sports composite) in each recruiting class under coach Mario Cristobal. There was TreVonte’ Citizen in 2022, Mark Fletcher Jr. and Chris Johnson in 2023, Jordan Lyle in 2024, Girard Pringle Jr. in 2025 and Javian Mallory in 2026.

Miami’s Class of 2027 currently has nine commitments. Six of the nine are blue-chip prospects.
