Eye on the U: Recapping Miami’s spring game and looking ahead to the NFL draft

The Miami Hurricanes provided a glimpse of their future on Saturday when they held their annual spring game to wrap up their 15-practice spring regiment.

Meanwhile, many key players from their past will take the next step in their future starting on Thursday.

On the latest episode of Eye on the U, Miami Herald Hurricanes beat writer Jordan McPherson and deputy sports editor Andre C. Fernandez take a look back at the Miami Hurricanes’ spring game. How did new quarterback Darian Mensah look? Who else stood out? And, perhaps most importantly, how much can we really take away from a controlled-setting practice to wrap up Miami’s spring practice schedule?

We also look ahead to the NFL draft, where up to three Hurricanes could be taken in the first round and a dozen players total could hear their names called over the three-day event.

Finally, UM basketball lands another commitment in the transfer portal and Miami baseball wins another weekend series to keep its hopes of hosting an NCAA regional alive.
