Eye on the U: What we’re watching for during the Hurricanes’ spring game

After four weeks of practices, the Miami Hurricanes’ spring game is almost here.

UM wraps up spring ball on Saturday morning with its annual spring game before breaking from formal practice sessions until August.

This will serve as the media’s first and only in-depth look at the team this spring. Prior to Saturday, there were only seven viewing sessions that were limited primarily to individual drills.

On the latest episode of Eye on the U, Miami Herald Hurricanes beat writer Jordan McPherson and deputy sports editor Andre Fernandez discuss the key aspects of the spring game they’ll be paying attention to most. New quarterback Darian Mensah is obviously one of the headline topics, but both lines of scrimmage and the team’s overall depth are key factors that will be tracked closely as well.

Beyond that, McPherson and Fernandez discuss the news of Miami extending both offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson and defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman, both of whom are integral to coach Mario Cristobal’s operation, the latest on the recruiting trail and news from UM men’s basketball and baseball.
