Need a reminder that the Hurricanes beat Notre Dame? ACC Network has you covered
In case you haven’t heard it enough during the past month of College Football Playoff debate, the Miami Hurricanes beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish head-to-head this season.
And if you want to relive that season-opening 27-24 Miami win from Aug. 31, the ACC Network has you covered.
As the Atlantic Coast Conference continues its push to get its top team to get an at-large bid into the 12-team field, the league’s network is re-airing the matchup multiple times this week ahead of the selection committee’s final rankings on noon Sunday that will determine the playoff field.
The first airing this week was 10 p.m. Monday. It will be shown 12 more times during the next five days:
▪ 10 a.m. Tuesday
▪ 1 p.m. Wednesday
▪ Four times on Thursday: 12:15 a.m., 5 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
▪ Five times on Friday: Midnight, 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
▪ 9 a.m. Saturday
“The best part about football? You get to settle it on the field,” the ACC posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday with a graphic comparing Miami’s resume to Notre Dame, including, of course, the head-to-head victory.
But the ACC’s push for Miami is going beyond just making the Hurricanes’ case against Notre Dame. In a series of tweets on Monday, the league did its part to push how UM compares to Alabama and BYU, two other teams ahead of Miami in last week’s playoff rankings (Miami was No. 12; Notre Dame was No. 9, Alabama No. 10 and BYU No. 11). The penultimate ranking is at 7 p.m. Tuesday ahead of conference championship games.
In the case of Miami-Alabama, the ACC pointed out that Alabama lost 31-17 to Florida State, a team Miami beat. When it comes to Miami-BYU the ACC highlighted that Miami has a better signature win — UM’s best victory being against Notre Dame, while BYU’s best win was Utah, ranked No. 13 — and that Miami did better than BYU against their one common opponent in Stanford (Miami beat the Cardinal 42-7, while BYU’s win over Stanford was 27-3).
It’s worth noting that Alabama and BYU are playing in the SEC and Big 12 championships, respectively, and wins Saturday will automatically put them in the playoff field.
