Where the Miami Hurricanes rank in AP poll after their win over Pittsburgh
The Miami Hurricanes’ win streak to end the regular season reached four games as they continue their push toward a hopeful College Football Playoff berth, with the latest win a 38-7 road victory at the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday at Acrisure Stadium.
And UM as a result continued to inch up in the poll, which the Hurricanes hope is a precursor for what will continue to happen in the College Football Playoff rankings, which ultimately determine which 12 teams make the playoff field.
The Hurricanes checked at No. 12 in the latest AP poll, released Sunday afternoon. That’s one spot above their No. 13 ranking from last week. Miami was No. 12 in the fourth of six weekly CFP rankings, the final of which will be used to determine the 12-team playoff field next month.
Miami jumped Vanderbilt in the ranking.
Including the Miami-Pitt game, there were five matchups between ranked teams last week. The only upset was then-No. 3 Texas A&M losing to then-No. 16 Texas 27-17. The others: Ohio State beat Michigan, Georgia beat Georgia Tech, and Vanderbilt beat Tennessee.
Texas A&M fell from No. 3 to No. 7. Texas rose from No. 16 to No. 14
Tennessee, Pittsburgh and SMU fell out of the rankings. Arizona, Navy and Missouri entered.
