The Miami Hurricanes’ win streak has now reached three games as it continues its push toward a hopeful College Football Playoff berth, with the latest win a 34-17 road victory at the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday at Lane Stadium.

And UM as a result continued to inch up in the poll, which the Hurricanes hope is a precursor for what will continue to happen in the College Football Playoff rankings, which ultimately determine which 12 teams make the playoff field.

The Hurricanes checked at No. 13 in the latest AP poll, released Sunday afternoon. That’s one spot above their No. 14 ranking from last week. Miami was No. 13 in the third of six weekly CFP rankings, the final of which will be used to determine the 12-team playoff field next month.

Miami moved above Utah in the poll despite every team in the top 14 from last week either winning or being idle.

Meanwhile, four teams ranked below Miami in last week’s poll — No. 15 Georgia Tech, No. 16 USC, No. 23 Missouri and No. 25 Houston — lost on Saturday.

USC dropped to No. 19, while Georgia Tech fell to No. 23. Missouri and Houston fell out of the poll entirely.

Pittsburgh and SMU entered at Nos. 24 and 25, respectively. Miami faces Pittsburgh on Saturday to end the regular season (noon, ABC).
