The No. 13 Miami Hurricanes (9-2, 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies (3-8, 2-5 ACC) 34-17 on Saturday at Lane Stadium.

Here are seven notable stats from the game.

1-0: Before getting into any of the nitty-gritty, the most important stat the Hurricanes will take away from the game is that they won.

At this point, that has to be the priority. With two losses, Miami has to run the table in the regular season to have a chance for the College Football Playoff.

113-34: The Hurricanes have outscored opponents 113-34 during their current three-game win streak: 38-10 over Syracuse, 41-7 over NC State and 34-17 against Virginia Tech.

This includes a 58-3 advantage at halftime in those games.

80.5%: Quarterback Carson Beck, who threw for 320 yards and four touchdowns against Virginia Tech, has completed 80.5% of his passes (66 for 82) for 858 yards and eight touchdowns with no interceptions over the past three weeks — all Miami wins.

This includes a UM-record 24 consecutive completions from the end of the NC State game through the start of the Virginia Tech game.

On the season, Beck has completed 240 of 323 passes for a 74.3% completion rate. That would shatter Miami’s single-season record, which is currently 67.2% by Cam Ward last season.

184: True freshman wide receiver Malachi Toney accounted for 184 yards against Virginia Tech. He set career-highs with 12 catches for 146 receiving yards to go along with 16 rushing yards, a 15-yard completion and a 7-yard punt return.

On the season, Toney has 71 catches for 844 receiving yards and six touchdowns. His 71 catches are fourth all-time in UM history for a single season behind only Xavier Restrepo (85 in 2023), Charleston Rambo (79 in 2021) and Leonard Hankerson (72 in 2010) and his 844 receiving yards are 55 shy of tying Santana Moss for 10th-most in a season in UM history and 90 yards shy of tying Ahmmon Richards’ school freshman record of 934 yards set in 2016.

5.5: Ahmad Moten Sr. and Justin Scott, Miami’s starting defensive tackles, combined for five-and-a-half tackles for loss and three sacks against Virginia Tech.

2: Kicker Carter Davis went 2 for 2 on field goals, both of which were from at least 40 yards (40 and 46 yards). Davis is 13 for 15 on field goals this season, including 6 of 8 on kicks from at lest 40 yards.

Nine: The Hurricanes committed nine penalties against Virginia Tech, including an unnecessary roughness call and a pair of unsportsmanlike conducts.
