The Miami Hurricanes made quick work of the NC State Wolfpack on Saturday with a resounding 41-7 win at Hard Rock Stadium.

It helped Miami inch up in the AP top 25 poll, which just like a week earlier the Hurricanes hope will be a precursor for what happens when the latest round of College Football Playoff rankings are unveiled on Tuesday.

The Hurricanes checked at No. 14 in the latest AP poll, released Sunday afternoon. That’s two spots above their No. 16 ranking from last week. Miami was No. 15 in the second of six weekly CFP rankings, the final of which will be used to determine the 12-team playoff field next month.

Two teams above Miami lost over the weekend, with the then-No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide losing 23-21 to the then-No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners and the then-No. 10 Texas Longhorns losing 35-10 to the then-No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs.

Four teams in the bottom half of the rankings — No. 19 Louisville, No. 22 Cincinnati, No. 23 Pittsburgh and No. 25 USF — also lost.

Georgia moved up to No. 4. Oklahoma moved up to No. 8

Alabama fell to No. 10 and Texas to No. 17.

Louisville, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and USF fell out of the poll. North Texas, Missouri, Tulane and Houston entered at Nos. 22, 23, 24 and 25, respectively
