The Miami Hurricanes’ 26-20 overtime loss to the SMU Mustangs on Saturday unsurprisingly resulted in a massive drop in their ranking in the AP top 25 poll.

Miami checked in at No. 18 in the latest poll, released Sunday afternoon. That’s an eight-spot drop from their No. 10 ranking last week.

The Hurricanes (6-2, 2-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) couldn’t overcome a slew of self-inflicted mistakes against SMU — 12 penalties, four drops, a bobbled ball that turned into an interception and untimely breaks during an otherwise strong game from the defense — en route to their second loss of the season.

Now, they face an uphill climb in their attempt to make the ACC Championship Game and the 12-team College Football Playoff.

But the Hurricanes weren’t the only ranked team to falter this weekend.

Two other top-10 teams also lost, with then-No. 8 Georgia Tech falling to unranked N.C. State and then-No. 9 Vanderbilt losing to then-No. 20 Texas. Further down in the rankings, then-No. 14 Tennessee lost to then-No. 18 Oklahoma, then-No. 17 Cincinnati lost to then-No. 24 Utah, and then-No. 22 Houston lost to unranked West Virginia.

The top seven spots of the poll remained unchanged, with No. 1 Ohio State still ahead of No. 2 Indiana. No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 Oregon and No. 7 Ole Miss follow.

BYU, Texas Tech and Notre Dame round out the top 10.

Vanderbilt fell to No. 15, Georgia Tech to No. 16, Tennessee to No. 23 and Cincinnati to No. 25. Oklahoma rose to No. 11, Texas to No. 13 and Utah to No. 17.

Houston fell out of the poll. Washington entered at No. 24.
