The Miami Hurricanes dropped their first game of the season on Friday when they lost 24-21 to the Louisville Cardinals on Friday at Hard Rock Stadium.

And they understandably dropped a bit in the latest AP top 25 poll as a result.

The Hurricanes checked in at No. 9 in the latest poll, released Sunday afternoon. That’s seven spots below their No. 2 ranking from last week and puts Miami at its lowest ranking since opening the season at No. 10.

UM (5-1, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) was one of a handful of teams to lose its first game this week, along with the Ole Miss Rebels, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Memphis Tigers and UNLV Rebels.

As a result, there are just six total undefeated teams left in college football this season: the Ohio State Buckeyes and Indiana Hoosiers of the Big Ten, Texas A&M Aggies of the Southeastern Conference, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets of the Atlantic Coast Conference, BYU Cougars of the Big 12 and Navy Midshipmen of the American Conference.

Ohio State held its spot at No. 1 in the poll, while Indiana and Texas A&M moved up to Nos. 2 and 3 following Miami’s loss.

Ole Miss dropped from No. 5 to No. 8 and Texas Tech dropped from No. 7 to No. 14 after their first losses of the season.

Louisville, Illinois, Arizona State and Michigan entered the poll at Nos. 19, 23, 24 and 25 respectively. USC, Utah, Memphis and Nebraska fell out of the poll

Miami hosts Stanford (3-4, 2-2 ACC) on Saturday, with kickoff from Hard Rock Stadium at 7 p.m. and the game broadcast on ESPN.
