Miami Hurricanes land commitment from local 2027 athlete DeMarcus DeRoche

The Miami Hurricanes have landed another local blue-chip prospect in their 2027 recruiting class.

The latest addition: DeMarcus DeRoche, who is set to begin his junior season at Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons and announced his pledge on Tuesday.

“Blessed to be a Cane Time to work!!!” DeRoche wrote on his personal X account.

DeRoche, listed at 6-4 and 205 pounds, is a four-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite ranking. He plays both tight end and defensive end at the high school level but is listed as an edge rusher on his 247Sports profile. As a sophomore at Fort Lauderdale Boyd Anderson in 2024.

DeRoche is the Hurricanes’ fifth commitment to their Class of 2027, all of whom are from South Florida. The other four: Miami Norland cornerback Kenton Dopson, Plantation American Heritage wide receiver Ah’Mari Stevens, Hollywood McArthur safety Jaylyn Jones and Wellington Palm Beach Central offensive lineman Zaquan Linton.
