College football’s preseason coaches poll is out. Here’s where Hurricanes rank

The Miami Hurricanes will begin the season as a top-10 team according to the USA Today coaches poll.

The Hurricanes check in at No. 10 in the outlet’s initial poll, which was unveiled on Monday afternoon.

The Hurricanes, who went 10-3 last season, are scheduled to face: the No. 5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Aug. 31), No. 17 Florida Gators (Sept. 20) and the No. 16 SMU Mustangs (Nov. 1).

The Texas Longhorns are No. 1, followed by the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes, No. 3 Penn State Nittany Lions, No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 5 Notre Dame. The Clemson Tigers, Oregon Ducks, Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers and Miami round out the top 10.

Clemson, Miami and SMU are the only three Atlantic Coast Conference teams to crack the top 25, although Louisville, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Duke and Florida State also received votes.

The Associated Press’ preseason top-25 poll is scheduled to be released on Aug. 11.
