Eye on the U: A look at the Hurricanes’ transfer additions. Plus Larry Blustein joins the show
The Miami Hurricanes were quite busy the past couple weeks.
Miami added eight players via the spring transfer portal window to bolster their roster and shore up a couple key positions heading into coach Mario Cristobal’s fourth season at the helm. While a lot of the team’s success will derive from how well quarterback Carson Beck performs in 2025, the cast around him getting better on paper certainly helps.
In the latest episode of Eye on the U, Miami Herald Hurricanes beat writer Jordan McPherson and deputy sports editor Andre C. Fernandez take a look at each of the eight newcomers and what they bring to the team. Afterward, Larry Blustein joins the show to give his take on the state of the Hurricanes.
Finally, we dive into the Hurricanes baseball team, which was on a bit of a run winning five consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference series before getting swept at Virginia last weekend. UM has itself in good position to make the NCAA tournament with one regular-season series and the ACC Tournament remaining.
(Editor’s note: The show was recorded before the news that five-star Class of 2026 offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell committed to Miami. Read full coverage of that here.)
