Eye on the U: The Hurricanes’ missed playoff chance, recruiting and portal endeavors
Well, the ride was fun while it lasted.
But it has all but unfortunately come to an end.
After a 42-38 loss to Syracuse in their regular-season finale, the Miami Hurricanes did not make the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game. Nor did they make the 12-team College Football Playoff field.
Now, the Hurricanes end their season by playing in the Pop-Tarts Bowl at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium on Dec. 28 against the Iowa State Cyclones.
How did Miami get to this point? How did they fall from a near shoo-in for the conference title game and a spot in the playoff field to thinking about what could have been?
Miami Herald Hurricanes beat writer Jordan McPherson and deputy sports editor Andre C. Fernandez discuss this on the latest episode of Eye on the U. They also discuss Cam Ward’s stellar season that resulted in him being named a Heisman Trophy finalist, take a look at UM’s recruiting class and transfer portal endeavors. and take a quick look at the playoff field ahead of the first-round matchups next weekend.
